All the things I’ll miss about you — your cherry blossoms. Morning swims in Portobello. All your bookshops. The inscriptions on the benches. Walking everywhere. Camping in the highlands in winter. Coffee from upland roast. The sound of bagpipes on Saturday mornings. The summer rains. My lecturers´ accents. Driving through the Cairngorms in autumn. Walking everywhere. The orange of city lights in the sky. Your winding alleys. Coffee breaks in Black Medicine. Allusions to Harry Potter all around me. The overbrimming pubs. Sunsets over Marchmont. Your coziness. The cracking of New Year’s fireworks. The cobblestone roads. Warrender Park Terrace. Bonfire night on Calton Hill. Bachata in Boteco. Those misty nights. The streetlights down Middle Meadows walk. Sunday market in Stockbridge. Raclette with the Frenchies. All the sausage dogs. Racing up Salisbury Crags. Chasing after northern lights. Victor Hugo. Leaving the library. The Christmas tree lit up. Dipping into the green lake. My friendships and all the joyful moments they have brought. This is part of my goodbye to you, Edinburgh, my home for the last 5 years.
