I’ve been planning to do a (very) long-distance cycle for a while now. I think I’ve narrowed down the plethora of possible routes to one I am particularly excited about — Paris to Istanbul.

Here’s a sample itinerary of how one could do it:

Day 1: Paris, France

  • Start your journey in the beautiful city of Paris.
  • Explore iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Notre-Dame Cathedral.
  • Spend the night in Paris to rest and prepare for the long ride ahead.

Day 2: Paris to Châlons-en-Champagne (165 km)

  • Leave Paris and head east towards Châlons-en-Champagne.
  • Enjoy the scenic countryside of the Champagne region.
  • Visit local vineyards and indulge in some champagne tasting.
  • Overnight stay in Châlons-en-Champagne.

Day 3: Châlons-en-Champagne to Nancy (157 km)

  • Cycle through the picturesque landscapes of the Marne and Meuse valleys.
  • Pass through charming villages and small towns.
  • Arrive in Nancy, known for its beautiful 18th-century architecture.
  • Explore the historic Place Stanislas and other attractions.
  • Overnight stay in Nancy.

Day 4: Nancy to Strasbourg (152 km)

  • Continue eastward towards…
